Welcome to Cinematic Leap. A podcast where we decide our next film by leaping with an actor, director or crew member to determine our next film. We discuss what we liked, didn’t like, why each other are wrong, and general banter about film and cinema.

As we leap from film to film we rotate between the three hosts, who each have different film tastes, but we are commited to watching the chosen film. Even if we hate it. It at least makes for a fun discussion when we tear it to bits while one of us defends why it’s supposedly a great film.

We hope you will join us. You can find Cinematic Leap on Spotify, Apple, Audible and Amazon podcasts. If we are not on your preferred listening platform let us know and we’ll get onto it!

Action Movie Expert

Having been a long-time movie podcast listener, it rekindled my love for movies.  I really wanted to sit back, watch and review them myself.  Having the chance to be host and try and keep things on track is a great challenge, and whilst I’m clearly the least qualified of the trio, that won’t stop me from putting forward my views, and arguing my points as needed.

Having the chance to do the podcast each with week with two of my best mates is one of the highlights of my week, and it’s opened up so many opportunities to watch new movies (both good and bad) which was one of the goals of the podcast

Action is where it is for me in terms of genres, with Thrillers, Mafia, Sports, Horror & Heist movies up there as well.

My favourite films are Die Hard, Jaws, The Godfather, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to the Future and John Wick.

Hope you enjoy the pod as much as we like doing it.

Trivia and Technical Jargon

I have been a fan of the movies since I saw Superman 3 at the cinema in 1983. Soon after the family got a VHS player and the local video store opened and we were getting all sorts of films. In the end I went on to study media arts at Deakin, majoring in video production and dabbling in sound and photography. Since graduating, I have qualified as a teacher, specialising in media arts and chemistry, such a wacky combo. I love making videos and media related products (editing this podcast included) and have built up some gear to support that passion when I can. Being behind the camera and developing an understanding of what goes into making a media production allows me to bring some insight into our little pod which I sometimes to get to point out. But I just love the opportunity to examine the work of some very clever and amazing people and chat about it with even better friends! I’m a big fan of sci-fi, fantasy and adventure films. Give me something with a quest, a macguffin and the hero’s journey and I’m pretty much on board. I’ll also take an action film over drama, comedy over thrillers and horror films are something I have to mentally work up to. Favourite films; Ghostbusters, V for Vendetta, The Martian, Braveheart, Shawshank Redemption, Serenity, Back to the Future and way too many to more to list.

Unpredictable Nonsense

When Scott asked me to start a podcast with him I was very excited, but also hesitant. I do enjoy watching movies, and discussing them, but wasn’t sure what I had to say that hasn’t already been said. But then I decided ‘why not!’ It turns out that I am an integral part of this group as without me it would be all action films, and sci-fi and fantasy and other average films (in my opinion). I try to choose films that are amazing, and that the other two may not have seen. And yes, they often don’t enjoy it, but it makes for good discussions!

Scott has put a good group together for this podcast. We all have different tastes but respect each others opinions and choices. I don’t consider myself someone that can talk critically about films, but I know what I like and why and happy to chat with my mates about it. If people listen in, then that’s great.

My favourite genres are music dramas, time travel, romantic comedies, horror, indie. The usual sort of stuff. I’m excited to watch a lot of films I haven’t seen before (except maybe for some of Mike’s picks). There are a lot of very popular films I am yet to see which I am sure I will soon see for the first time.

Thanks for checking out our site and I hope you enjoy the podcast.
